General Practitioner Doctor
General practitioners provide confidential patient consultation and initial medical care within a community-based setting.
GPs work in primary health care, which means they are the first point of contact for patients needing medical attention. GPs see patients in our clinics or visit them at home. GPs examine patients, assess their condition and set out a plan of appropriate treatment.
On A daily basis GPs might also:
» Give general advice or health education in conjunction with other health professionals
» Prescribe medication
» Recommend treatment
» Carry out minor surgeries
» Refer patients to specialist or consultants for tests and further diagnosis.
» Provide physical examinations
» Diagnose and treat common illnesses/ailments
